The Simple Steps Story
Sara Drake always dreamed of creating a place where students and families could turn for high-quality, personalized academic support. As a passionate and experienced classroom teacher, she saw firsthand how many bright, capable students struggled in traditional school settings—often needing more individualized attention, targeted strategies, or simply someone who believed in them. Sara was deeply committed to seeing every child find their success, not just in school, but as confident, capable learners.
That commitment led her to start working with students outside of school hours, offering one-on-one support tailored to their specific academic and emotional needs. Word quickly spread, and more families began reaching out—grateful for her thoughtful, encouraging approach and her ability to make learning feel manageable and even fun. It became clear that what she had started was something special—and something that was needed on a broader scale.
To meet the growing demand, Sara began assembling a team of educators who shared her values: a deep love for teaching, a belief in every child’s potential, and a desire to make a meaningful difference. Each teacher brought their own expertise, but all were united by a common goal—to support students with care, creativity, and skill.
What began as a small dream soon grew into Simple Steps Teaching, a trusted and growing community of dedicated educators serving students in grades K–12. Under Sara’s leadership, the team provides academic support, executive functioning coaching, and enrichment across a wide range of subjects and learning needs. Whether a student is struggling with reading, tackling advanced math, or needing help staying organized, Simple Steps offers a safe, encouraging space to grow.
Sara remains deeply involved in every aspect of the work, always focused on her original goal: to ensure that every child who walks through the door feels supported, capable, and on a clear path toward success—one simple step at a time.
